SLM assists a few needy families by distributing food, clothing, and other necessities to them. These families may be a single mother with a number of children, a family whose father and/or mother is disabled, and an elderly widow, widower, or disabled couple. Our goal is to help those who need and want the physical help this program provides them. Often times it is a temporary aid during very hard times in a families life. Other times it is an assistance to a widow or single mother with children. This program is not organized to support a family entirely on its own...we don't want the people to become entirely dependent on what they receive from the program. We do, however, want to help the poor and needy who have nobody else to help them. Jesus often went out of His way to help the poor during his ministry on earth, and we remember His words in Matthew 25:40, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." | |
